Salt and Sugar Crystal Experiment

You might remember, a long time ago, when I made (TRIED to make) borax crystals. It didn’t work, the paper clip I was using just turned black. So I decided to do it again and…drum roll please…success. I found out that instead of using a paper clip, I had to use string.

salt AGAIN!

At the beginning , nothing happened, I started wondering if i was cursed never to grow crystals. But, being the persevering scientist that I am, I did some research, and found out I needed string instead of metal. The materials couldn’t grasp the smooth metal, the rough string was easy to get to and on the first day of string…

salt crystals

both crystal results

It worked so well!!! sugar did nothing, but the salt was a totally different story, it covered the whole pencil, container, and string. I’m amazed that it hasn’t covered the fridge yet (YET). I’ll let you know when that happens.

Tasting the experiment, yea, salt equals not so good.
